Welcome to Max Fubar's American Journal. This site is open for political debate based on fact and not propoganda generated in the mass media for political hacks or corporate interests. If are wondering about the name, it is what I see happening in the nation today, where rights and freedoms are being curtailed for supposed safety, but remember our founding fathers warned us against giving up our rights because soon after we end up with no rights and no freedoms. Remember that every nation starts in the cause of liberty, but in the end all nations fall to tyranny.
The Roman Republic started out that way, former slaves who overthrew thier masters and build a nation based on certain rights and responsibilites, only to be politically subverted through corruption and the need for the citizen of the Republic to feel safe, even when the outside agressor was an internal creation. Today, the United States of America faces a similar set of issues that faced the Romans, where the wealth generated by war drove the economy of Rome to new heights and was used as justification for building an empire that contained people's from all over Europe, North Africa and the Near East. That empire created opportunies for many, but was controlled by a very few who degenerated into war lords that felt they earned the right to dictate to others based on their fortunes that they acquired through nefarious means.
Today we see the same things happening in our nation, and there are internal and external forces at work to create a unified planetary government that lays waste to our beloved American ideals, by superceding them and excluding the very citizens they seek to control through the perception of benefit that is doled out and metered by those who gain the most from this melding of the planet's governments into a single entity. The thought here is a posh and comfortable prison is still a prison. Wealth should not dictate liberty, our abilities should. There are those who wish to not only control the wealth of the planet for themselves, but ensure that all others are excluded from ever reaching the point where they can displace those already at the top. As with Rome, we know what happens when you dont turn over the top players in wealth and politics, we degenerate into small things with small lives of little meaning or substance. Those with the wealth that would last many lifetimes seek the ultimate, power to dictate life or death on a whim and their whim being the only factor. Now let's discuss how we can remain true to our American ideals without subjecting ourselves to the foibles that every failed nation state has suffered. Those who suffered most were the average person, though the wealthy ones might bemoan that they too had suffered, not being able to do as they please or when they pleased. The facts are folks, we are on the edge of world wide change, yet we still have the power to control what happens to us, rather than having someone else decide for us.

• With BP's history, we need to look at who has made the decisions that have led to the various leaks and other problems that have had such tremendous impact on consumers and the environment. These are the people who run BP and their actions are creating a problem for US tax payers, as we are the ones paying the majority of the costs involved in the various clean ups. The explosion caused serious problems in the city they occurred and in the case of the Gulf Coast blow out spill, will have a long term impact on communities and citizens that the taxpayer, IE the victims, will be paying for, not BP. So, to that end, we need to either prosecute the executive management and hold them and their organization fully accountable for all damages current and future that is caused by their profit driven business within the jurisdiction of the US. Executive should be held personally liable for their decisions, both in civil and criminal matters. Lobbying does not excuse their actions, in fact it should make the additionally liable for pursuing these actions with their promises to the government, and thereby the citizens of this nation. Fully told, if they do not, their liability will likely be less than 5% of the total cost of the clean up, never mind the associated economic impact upon the region. Alaska still has oil on it's shores from the Exxon Valdez accident and Exxon paid less than 2% of the total economic impact on the region. Yet for the past few years Exxon made record profits exceeding $100 billion dollars, which should have gone toward paying for the damages they have caused, and now BP is looking for a similar out via their political agents. Time to put our foot down and demand compensation from these companies and in some cases the criminal prosecution of those who made the decisions that have led to these catastrophes for the American taxpayers. No more should we put up with sure fraud and mismanagement of our resources and no more should we taxpayer pay for the mistakes of some of the largest companies in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe 21st century's first major depression is upon us, caused by a select few who manipulate the wealth of nations for their own benefit, without regard toward the common man, the true source of their wealth. We are living in the age of great change, where an over populated planet is finding itself squeezed for resources and space. Slowly we are taking what was once unfit for decent people and have raised it to the heights of luxury. This is because we consume our world in an endless gluttony, and as one resource vanishes, we are sold on yet another. Soon, what will we see as luxury? The city dump, where the remains of our consumption become the treasures of those that follow?
